RPI GIVES BACK

Our goal is to ensure that serving our communities is a part of the RPI experience.

RPI strives to make a difference in our communities. We are always seeking ways to support the philanthropic efforts of our workforce. Whether it’s a donation, matching funds, providing resources, sponsorships for activities, or encouraging employees to volunteer together; we recognize the power that benevolence has on our society and in the camaraderie of our teams. Community outreach is an effort that aligns with our mission, vision, and core values.

RPI recognizes that people who have a heart for improving their communities make great team players because they care about other people. Therefore, we model that as a company. We are committed to helping our employees improve their communities. We encourage volunteerism so that our employees can experience the joy of giving and helping others.

We believe that when employees care about and support community outreach, give back and try to make a positive impact on their communities, they tend to have a service-minded mentality and value generosity. In our experience, those employees are more successful at and serve as outstanding representatives of RPI to our customers.

These amazing non-profit organizations in our area.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS

For more than 50 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters Greater Fredericksburg has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”). Providing a system of ongoing evaluation and support, Big Brothers Big Sisters is proven by independent studies to help children perform better in school, make positive choices, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others.

THE BRISBEN CENTER

The Brisben Center is the greater community's largest full service, year-round, residential emergency homeless center. This unique facility opened in 2005 as the result of an amazing vision and partnership among the leadership of the nonprofit Thurman Brisben Homeless Shelter, Inc., the City of Fredericksburg and the greater community. In the late 1980s, many downtown faith organizations initially founded the Center and today 70 area community and faith-based organizations support it across the four-county community. It provides a safe and secure, staffed 24-hour temporary residence for the homeless 365 days a year. It can simultaneously serve up to 80 homeless women, children and men with a wide range of services. The Center is a critical port in the storm for those experiencing homelessness in our community, including many veterans. At Brisben, hundreds of volunteers and supporters from our greater community serve the region's homeless each year.

THE FAIRY GODMOTHER PROJECT

The mission of the Fairy Godmother Project is to ease the burden of those faced with pediatric cancer even if only for an hour. They make meals, provide professional house cleaning, lawn care plus providing gas and grocery cards for local families whose children have pediatric cancer. They implemented a Financial Relief Fund in 2014 and are now able to pay bills twice annually for the families served. They are being connected to families by word of mouth and connections to hospitals but hope one day to offer more services and connect with more families on a larger scale.

FREDERICKSBURG AREA FOOD BANK

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank helps to provide nutritious food to over 31,000 people through our network of 152 community partners operating more than 260 food assistance programs. In 2019, the Food Bank collected and distributed over 4.2 million pounds of food and other grocery products; the equivalent of over 3.3 million meals provided to those in need.

FRIENDS OF THE RAPPAHANNOCK (FOR)

We are citizens from all walks of life, whose common goal is to maintain the water quality and scenic beauty of the Rappahannock River and its tributaries. We work with a wide variety of stakeholders, from local governments to elementary students, to educate about the river and to advocate for actions and policies that will protect and restore the values that make the Rappahannock River so special.

We promote environmentally responsible planning through active participation in the civic process. Our professional staff provide technical support to local governments, developers, and teachers in areas of special expertise, including Low Impact Development codes and ordinances, Watershed Planning, Water Quality Monitoring, Invasive Species Control, and Streambank Restoration.

We believe that community education is an essential tool for promoting environmental awareness and protection. As a result, we lead a variety of public education programs which focus on understanding and protecting the river's unique natural, scenic and historic resources.

STEM EDUCATION

STEM Education is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It is taught in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

RPI Group participates in the STEM Summit in the Fredericksburg Region. The STEM Summit is a one-day event designed to bring together students, teachers, public officials & businesses to see STEM in action. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk about cutting edge STEM technology as well as visit some of the most exciting STEM-related booths from around the region.

YOUNG LIFE

Young Life is a world-class organization for adolescents. Our staff and volunteers enter the world of kids, focusing on what matters to them -- fun, adventure, friendship and a sense of significance. In doing so, we earn the privilege of talking to them about the good news of Jesus and His love for them.

Kids' lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, and they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.
