What We Do at RPI

We often talk about different services and solutions that RPI offers, but what does RPI Group Inc. (RPI) actually do? Read on to find out!

RPI Cyber Lab

Our three main lines of business are cyber solutions, defense systems and networks, and warfare science and technology. But those descriptors are much broader than what we actually do.

Google says: Based in Fredericksburg, VA, RPI is a privately held, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that provides cybersecurity and technical support services, primarily to the U.S. national defense sector.

They provide cyber solutions to protect critical infrastructure and support military weapon systems, platforms, and networks with skilled personnel. The company has extensive experience with the Department of Defense (DoD), holding contracts with the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. As a SDVOSB, their services are informed by their military experience.

And while all of that is true, we are so much more; both in the services we offer and the people providing the support. Overall, our goal is always to best support the customer. They are our mission and building trust with them is integral to our work. That’s why we are committed to mission excellence.

Cyber Solutions

As part of Cyber Solutions, RPI provides cybersecurity support, operational technology (OT) asset management, real-time traffic monitoring, and comprehensive threat detection. We take an innovative and adaptive approach to cyber solutions because each solution is tailored to our customers’ specific needs and requirements. Our experts understand that every customer environment is different and requires rapid, comprehensive design before implementation. This approach results in quicker, and more efficient, but no less effective cyber defense.

Specifically, RPI provides cybersecurity solutions for operational technology (OT) through our advanceOT solution. We offer services and technologies to enhance the security, efficiency, and resiliency of critical infrastructure for customers such as the DoD. For securing legacy systems, industrial control systems (ICS), and facility related control systems (FRCS) our goal is to provide a tactical and operational advantage for customers by ensuring the secure and efficient operation of their critical infrastructure.

Our goal is to protect OT systems from threats by offering real-time threat detection. We deploy and manage OT asset management systems to maintain the integrity and availability of these systems. The services focus on critical infrastructure, such as military facilities and federal systems, to ensure security and resilience.

Defense Systems and Networks

The services we provide to the national security community are rooted in decades of expertise. We have a long history of working with the DoD including our work with the Navy, the Marine Corps, and the Air Force. We operate and maintain mission-critical systems in 24x7x365 environments.

This where some of our services come together: we use our cyber solutions to defend military critical infrastructure, architecting, deploying, maintaining, and evolving complex systems and networks to secure our military’s most vulnerable assets from attack.

Warfare Science and Technology

Warfare Science and Technology refers to the scientific and technological principles behind modern military applications. RPI focuses on applying scientific research to solve warfare-related problems by utilizing a highly specialized team of senior scientists, subject matter experts, engineers, and PhDs who provide expertise in this niche. They solve unique warfare challenges for the DoD by building systems and leveraging our extensive knowledge of the science behind those systems.

5G

All of our work within these lines of business, has primed RPI for the current secure wireless solution: 5G. Current and old systems often tie users to expensive, proprietary technologies with limited flexibility and high dependency on single providers. These options fall short in addressing the complex data needs of new and critical technologies. That’s where 5G comes in.

5G’s true purpose is to create a high-capacity, low-latency, & highly connected network infrastructure that supports a wide variety of applications, not just mobile technology. It is cost effective, requiring very little hardware; flexible, controlled by software, not hardware; and quick to deploy.

RPI has been developing secure, open source 5G solutions for the DoD and beyond.

We have focused on developed advance5G, a military-secure 5G solution built with open standards and Open RAN technology. It is technology designed to meet the specific security and mission needs of the DoD for private 5G implementations on military installations, where commercial networks may not be suitable. RPI’s capabilities development team continues to conduct testing.
