NETWORK ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE
WHILE THESE TERMS ARE OFTEN USED INTERCHANGEABLY...
They are quite different. Architecture refers to the network's overall design and layout, while engineering is the process of implementing a secure and reliable network. In other words, architecture is the plan and engineering makes that plan a reality.
Network architecture and engineering are critical components to the overall cyber solution but can often be approached as matters of secondary importance. At RPI, we know they are foundational to efficient, secure operation, scalability and reliability, just as integral as walls, doors, and a roof.
In the same way that a building must have a secure and reliable foundation to be safe, a network must also be designed and appropriately architected to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability. From the basics of where to place routers, firewalls, switches and other devices in your network, to more advanced topics such as security patches, update plans, and network policies and procedures, RPI Engineers are experts in all facets of network architecture and engineering.
Cyber solutions can be complicated. Many who require network architecture and engineering don’t know exactly what they need. RPI takes the time to uncover your goals, requirements, budgetary limits—even your team culture—to design a network that takes your unique engineering challenges into consideration.
